Why should we talk about intestinal hygiene?
We spend a lot of time and effort every day looking after the hygiene of our bodies: we wash our hands and feet and brush out teeth. Usually, personal hygiene is related to maintaining our external appearance, while the attention given to our internal organs is fleeting. Wishing to emphasize the undeniable importance of maintaining the function of your digestive tract to the overall health of the organism, pharmacist Mantas Jakimavičius is introducing a new term – intestinal hygiene. The point of this term is to remind us that we have to take care of intestinal hygiene every day, as opposed to only when we become seriously ill. The pharmacist is also glad to offer an efficient and time-tested solution for intestinal hygiene.
The intestinal system – our “second brain”
According to scientific research data, intestinal activity determines 80% of our immune system’s activity. To some purpose, the intestinal system is usually referred to as a separate nervous system and called a “second brain”. It includes about 500 million neurons, which is about 5 times more than in the brain of a rat. The main function of our intestines is related to the removal of foreign bodies (bacteria, toxins, undigested food remnants) from our organism. Some peoples’ digestive systems can cope with this task perfectly well – they defecate every day and their gut works like clockwork. Unfortunately, this process of expulsion becomes a challenge to others – defecation becomes a rare and complicated process; they experience constipation, diverticula, and their intestinal microflora becomes unbalanced. When intestinal activity is disrupted, the “second brain” sends signals to the entire organism: our immune system becomes weaker and we may become fatigued, weakened, and experience other ailments.
Younger and younger people are experiencing intestinal problems
It is said that intestinal problems are more prevalent in older people. Even so, pharmacist is surprised by the number of young mothers whose children defecate only a couple of times per week coming to him asking about intestinal problems. It’s also surprising that, in the 21st century, clinics treating constipation problems in children up to the age of 6 started popping up. The question is, why are intestinal problems plaguing younger and younger people?
Changes in diet – a difficult challenge to the digestive system
The increase in severity of intestinal problems is determined by changes in our diet. We drink little, consume a lot of protein dense products, and eat food that is easy to digest and lacks dietary fibre. Because of this reason, only a small volume of faeces reaches the large intestine and the content becomes very dry. This disrupts intestinal peristalsis and causes other constipation and intestinal activity problems.
Pharmacist Mantas Jakimavičius, in his 10 years of scientific and professional experience, has noticed that intestinal and defecation problems are an intimate subject which many do not even dare to speak of. Having noticed this complicated situation, the pharmacist decided to create a natural product which would improve the quality of life for people with disrupted intestinal activity and ensure proper intestinal hygiene.
“I stared looking at intestinal disorders from a far broader perspective. I examined why the intestines of some people are clean while others not. The situation became worse every year and I understood that I must offer a choice to people. I’m glad that my competencies in the area of pharmacy allowed me to do so,” reminisces the pharmacist.
ColonWell’s unique formula creation principles
When asked to recall how the formula of ColonWell was created, Mantas underscores that the idea of this product was in development for a very long time and begins naming the essential creation principles.
Application of scientific and practical knowledge
International exhibitions, scientific research, consultation with the most famous gastroenterologists – all of this led towards the conception of ColonWell. ColonWell, as you can understand, means “a healthy digestive system” and reflects the main conception of the product. The composition of the product is 8 natural herbs and white clay.
“When creating the ingredient formula for ColonWell I focused my attention on each ingredient of the product, so it would only be added to the product after thoroughly examining its contribution to health. Striving for the highest-class composition possible I spent a long-time consulting specialists. I can boldly state that we have created an exceptionally balanced dietary fibre product for a healthy digestive system,” says the pharmacist about the difficult but pleasant task of creating ColonWell.
Fostering naturalness
Another necessary aspect reflecting the philosophy of the pharmacist is the importance of naturality. ColonWell is 100% natural with no synthetic proteins, colours, taste enhancers, or other substances in its composition which could irritate the digestive system.
“I am glad that naturality is reflected in each step of the product’s creation. Even when choosing the form of the ColonWell product we were thinking about nature. We could have put ColonWell herbs into pills, but then we would have had to add additional substances to form them and the idea of naturalness would fail. We also took care that the product wouldn’t have any aggressive pharmacological effect and I am happy to say that we managed to achieve this,” Mantas emphasizes the natural conception of the product.
Ensuring effectiveness
Pharmacist also highlights that people should understand how the food they consume affects their organism. Because of this reason, the action principle of ColonWell is simple, concise, and, most importantly, effective.
“During my lectures I often ask people if they would like to increase the volume of their faeces? The question may seem funny to most, but a small volume of defecate could lead to tears instead of laughter, because a small amount of faeces could lead to chronic bowel disorders. I want people to understand the action principle of ColonWell: when fibre reaches our digestive system it expands, its volume increases 20 times. High fibre volume fills the stomach, causing a feeling of satiety, speeding up metabolism, increasing stool volume, and regulating bowel function,” explains the pharmacist in detail.
Low calorie content
Another important aspect of ColonWell’s formula is its low-calorie content. In addition, ColonWell fibres, when ingested, fill the stomach and create a feeling of satiety, thus preventing excessive eating.
“People who eat healthy often consume fruits that are good for health but are high in calories and high in carbohydrates. Consuming a lot of sweet fruits increases the risk of diabetes and you should try to consume them in moderation. If you supplement your diet with ColonWell fibre, they are balanced so that you have very few calories and close to zero carbohydrates,” says Mantas Jakimavičius.
ColonWell is now well-regarded by consumers
“It is gratifying that 3 years of ColonWell sales in the Lithuanian market have proven that this product was exactly what people were missing. We came up with a solution to improve bowel function, and people tested it and proved that ColonWell’s effectiveness exceeded their expectations – we have great feedback,” says the pharmacist.
So now, not only is ColonWell a unique formulation, safe, and quality-certified product, but also a consumer-appreciated product for gut hygiene.
